The CBSE has prescribed novels as Long Reading Text under the Reading Project. Salient features of the books are: } The entire text is unabridged. } The annotations have been written strictly according to the CBSE requirement, keeping in mind the objectives of this newly introduced project on long reading. } The books are reader-friendly and does away with the need for any further external help in the form of a tutor. } To facilitate the reader, page-wise meanings of difficult/unfamiliar words, phrases and expressions have been provided. } The reader will find a chapter-wise interpretation of the text at the end of each chapter. } With a view to help the reader recapitulate the main events of the chapter, the same have been provided at the end of each chapter. } Since the project under which the novel has been prescribed by the CBSE aims at developing and promoting in the reader a skill of quick understanding of events and characters while reading, lots of questions under ‘Ask yourself while reading’ have been provided. } Text-based questions on plot and incidents involving interpretation and inference are also given. } Some Solved Sample Questions and Questions for Practice given at the end of the books will also go a long way in helping the reader understand the text.
